My cousin sent me your book ADDICT AMERICA. I read it in one night. WOW! I find you to be an incredible light to the world. I hope to read more of your work in the future. My spiritual path has led me to the mountains of Western North Carolina. It is here that I have healed from a lot of emotional issues, many stemmed from hidden addictions. As you mention in your book, we often box the word "addiction" to alcohol, food, sex or drugs.
It was refreshing to read your words. THANK YOU for giving the world a part of you through this creative process that will reach many.
You are a truly beacon of light. May the Divine continue to bless you. I hope you make it up to the mountains one day. Would love to meet with you personally. Millie M.

This book really speaks to everyone whether they believe they are an addict or not. It addresses the lack of connection in our society and the reasons for it and great solutions to reach out and become more connected with yourself and others. In fact, we may all have some sort of addiction whether it be to drama or complaining or negativity...something that keeps us from growing and feeling truly happy in life as it is and we don't even realize it. The writing is so easy to follow and straight to the point and I was actually sad when coming to the end of the book because I was enjoying reading it so much. Anyone can benefit from this honest, straight forward book and begin to think of other possibilites in our reactions to our lifes and choices. I can't wait for the sequel, but this book it a joy in itself to be sure!

“Just finished your book. It really helped me and I want to start reading it again right now. So many “ah-haa” moments. I want them to sink in and become part of my thought processes every day.”

Reading Dr. Clarks book is an eye opener. With years of experience in her clinical practice to call upon, she describes in an uncomplicated manor anyone can comprehend, not just how we fall under the spell of addiction, but also how our culture supports the fall! Addict America is a spiritual wake-up call to those blinded to the extent addiction, at least in this country, has become a way of life. Whether overtly, as in the use of cocaine and alcohol, or covertly in the way we medicate ourselves with life-style choices, this book not only describes the road map into addiction, but clearly points the way out of it as well. Like John Bradshaw before her, she courageously reveals uncomfortable truths we don't want to admit, shares intimately about her own journey, and candidly offers what she's discovered genuinely nourishes the human spirit; what it is that will lead us out of the deadliest trap facing modern culture. If you're wanting to get a clearer picture about what underlies our society's malaise, and what will bring us out of it, read this book.

Carol, I am excited about buy and reading your book. I work a 12-step program and the concept of “being in the moment”, so often spoken of in the steps work, is so alien to most of us , we have to take baby -steps and start back at square one , early childhood, when we didn’t have anything at all to “entertain” us except to connect to the innate happiness bubbling inside us that just made us feel good all the time. I believe that your book is going help us all re-discover that connection. Congratulations on publishing such a timely and much-needed book for us all!
